Seneca Foods Announces Winner Of Crazy Mixed-Up
Fruit Juice Recipe Contest
The Lum family o f Aloha, Or-

Foods made a cash donation to the
organization at the end o f the event,
which was open to the public.
The Portland contest - and one
like it in Seattle - w ere held to intro­
duce local shoppers to the new line of
beverages. Unlike m ostchilled juices,
the four varieties of Seneca Premium
Juices are made with primarily North­
west, not tropical, fruits. They are
produced in the com pany’s Prosser,
WA, facility. All four flavors are 100
percent natural with no added sugar,
artificial colors or artificial flavors.

M ixed-Up Fruit Juice Recipe contest
held earlier this month at the Lloyd
Center.
The L um s’ recipe for "R efresh­
ing Grape Ice,” created by Lily, 35,
Ryan, 5 and K rystal, 3, was selected
by the event judges and the Seneca
test kitchen staff for its flavor and
simplicity.
“O ne thing we looked for in our
top entries was how well the recipe
show cased the new Seneca premium
Juices, which were key ingredients in
all recipes,” explained judge Shelley
E. Page, business m anager at Seneca
Foods in Pittsford, N.Y. “the Lum s’
beverages are also delicious and easy
to m ake,” she added.
The Lums will receive a one-year
supply o f Seneca Premium Apple,
Apple Peach, Apple Pear and Blush
Grape Juices. In addition, their recipe
will be featured in the com pany’s
Crazy Mixed-Up Juice Recipe book­
let to be published later this year.
The winning recipe w as con­
cocted at an event supported by Tran-

• 3 cups ice
• 1 tbsp. DaVinci Crem e de M enthe
Syrup
• 1 tbsp. DaVinci Raspberry Syrup
Chop banana in blender. Add
remaining and blend well. Serve.

blend again. Yields 1 1/4 cups.

3 teaspoons baking pow der
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon su g ar

2 eggs, slightly beaten
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Com bine dry' ingredients in a mixing
bow 1. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or a fork. Stir in the eggs and enough
water to make a soft dough. (Just try it by sprinkles so that you don’t make
