MORGAN RETURNS AS ANALYST
ON ESPN SUNDAY NIGHT DASERALL
Former Cincinnati Reds great
and Hall of Fame second baseman Joe
Morgan has signed a new agreement
with ESPN to continue serving as the
analyst on the network’s exclusive
Sunday Night Baseball telecasts, as
well as for select Wednesday games.
Morgan, who teams with play-
by-play commentator Jon Miller, has
covered Major League Baseball for
ESPN for the past four years, winning
a Cable ACE Award for his work
during his rookie season (1990). He
will also serve as analyst for NBC’s
baseball telecasts, working alongside
Dick Enberg.
“I’m delighted to continue my
relationship with ESPN,” Morgan
said. “I’ve enjoyed working with Jon
and look forward to the 1994 season
with great anticipation.”
Morgan, who served as a college
baseball analystforESPN from 1985-
1988, retired as an active player in
1984 after four seasons with the San
FranciscoGiants. He began his broad
casting career in 1985 covering C in
cinnati Reds games for WLWT-TV,
the local NBC affiliate. He also worked
as a baseball analyst on NBC’s na
tional telecasts. Morgan also served
as an analyst on select ABC Monday
Night Baseball telecasts (1986-88)
and as an analyst for the 1988 League
Championship Series on ABC.
A 10-time National League All-
Star selection, Morgan is one of only
nine players to win back-to-back MVP
honors (1975/76). He was the first
player to steal more than 60 bases and
h it m ore than 25 hom e runs
(1973/76). Know primarily for his
contribution toCincinnati’s “Big Red
Machine” in the 1970’s, Morgan also
played for the Houston Astros (1963-
72, 1980), San Francisco Giants
(1981-82), Philadelphia Phillies
(1983) and Oakland Athletics (1984)
during his sparkling 22-season ca
reer. He was elected to the Baseball
Hall o f Fame in 1990, his first year of
eligibility.
The 1994 Major League Base
ball season will begin on ESPN Sun
day, April 3 when the network will
showcase a single opening-night game
between the St. Louis Cardinals and
the Cincinnati Reds at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Seniors/Disabled
Residents Help Out In
County Departments
15 0 0 Residents Eligible
For Tax Work-Off Program
Low income seniors and disabled
residents having a tough time paying
their property taxes are getting some
help from the county’s Tax Work-Off
Program. And they’re helping county
staff in return.
The program, which was devel
oped by the Clark County Treasurer’s
Office, allows seniors and disabled
residents within certain income guide
lines to work in county departments
earning enough to pay at least half of
their property taxes. Qualifying ap
plicants earn minimum wage and do
such things as answer the phone,
provide clerical support, work on
mailing and file documents.
Treasurer Dough Lasher said the
two-year-old program is so popular
that some participants want to con
tinue helping out as volunteers once
their tax bills are satisfied. For the
most part, retired county residents
participate in the program in county
departments such as the Treasurer’s
Office, the Auditor’s Office, Elec
tions, Com m unity Developm ent,
Human Resources, Parks and Records.
“ I can’t imagine being without
the program now. They’re doing in-
depth research updating addresses and
perform ing other much-needed assis
tance,” said Dianna Towner, tax ser
vice supervisor in the Treasure’s Office.
Towner said that 1500 residents
are eligible for the program. She added
that all eligible residents received
applications in early February.
“We hope people will fill out the
forms and get involved in the pro
gram. Anyone with questions should
feel free to give me a call,” Towner
said.
Dianna Towner can be reached

fice at 699-2255.

real life performance and statistics.
Eight different strengths have been
calculated for each of the on-screen

Adding to overall game play and
strategy, tournament Edition allows
players to select same team match

tutions. And leave it to the talented
Midway game designers to tap into

ing for with over four times the num
