(A Message From Someone Who Cares)
BY ART KELLER

WHICH ROAD YOU
SHOULD BE ON? ARE
YOU CRYING OUT FOR HELP? DO
YOU NEED COUNSEL FOR YOUR
PARTICULAR DILEMMA? SOME
ONE IS LISTENING. TAKE
COUNSEL. I HEAR YOUR CRY.
It passes through the darkness, it
filters through the clouds, mingles
w ith starlight and finds its way to my
heart on the path o f a sunbeam...
I., .have anguished over the cry o f
a hare choked in the noose o f a snare.
I watch a sparrow tumble from the
nest o f its mother. 1 sec a ch ild thrash
ing helplessly in a pool. And heard a
son shedding his blood on a cross.
Know my child that I hear you “ also” .
I hear you from the crackhouse,
y o u r s tre c t--c o rn c r o ffic e , yo u r
prom oter’ s abusive apartment, your
d y s fu n c tio n a l hom e, and y o u r
wannabee’ s hangout, w hile just k ic k
ing it. I can bring you re lie f from your
sorrows... For I know its causes-and
its cures.
You weep fo r all your childhood
dreams that have vanished w ith the
years. You weep for all your self
esteem that had been corrupted by

Muslims To Hold
Discussion On
Christ’s Second
Coming
Religious scholars from d iffe r
ent persuasions w ill gather at the
Portland Rizwan Mosque tocxchange
notes about prophecies regarding
Jesus C hrist’ s second coming.
Adherents o f all the w o rld ’ s rec
ognized religious arc expecting a
promised reformer to redeem them
from the clutches o f vicious sins. There
have been claims and counter claims
whether the Promised One has come
or when he is going to come. A t least,
the tw o most popular religions, Islam
and C h ris tia n ity , have witnessed
claimants to the messianic throne,
but here is s till sour spiritual taste
about these supposed messiahs, Many
such claimants have come and gone.
It is on this premise that the
Ahm adiyya Movement in Islam has
put together a seminar to examine
prophesies about the second appear
ance o f the Promised One. This semi
nar is expected to draw follow ers o f
different faiths who arc concerned
about the advent o f the Reformer o f
Later days.
The event is scheduled on Sun
day, A p ril 17th at 2:00 pm, at the
Portland Rizwan M osque,9925 S.W.
35th Avenue, Portland. The general
public is invited. Adm ission is free.
failure. You weep for the potential o f
a son that has been cut down by a
gangland’ s bullet. You weep for the
individuality o f the child whose rights
have been trampled by the mobs. You
weep fo r the talents o f those that have
been wasted through misuse. You
look upon yourself w ith disgrace, and
you tum in horror from the image you
see in the m irror. Y ou ask, who is this
mockery o f humanity staring back at
you w ith bloodless eyes o f shame?
You have no memory o f that moment
when first you emerged from your
mother’ s womband I placed my hands
upon your soft brow. You cannot re
member the secret I whispered into
your small ears when I bestowed my
blessings upon you. The passing years
have destroyed your recollection, for
they have fille d yourm ind w ith neigh
borhood fear. And much doubt as to
your worth. You now experience anxi
ety, hate, and helplessness.
There can be no room fo r jo y fu l
memories where these beasts daily
live. I f you can but weep no more, I am
w ith you... This moment can become
the d ivid in g line o f your life , for
“ you” and “ only you” can choose the
rig h t road...
Mother’s Day Cards Help
the World’s Children
(D M )-U N IC E F (U nited N ations
Children's Fund) greeting cards are
the oldest greeting cards printed and
sold for charitable purposes. Since
their introduction in 1949, the sale of
UNICEF greeting cards have helped
to provide health care, im m uniza
tions, basic education, clean water
and sanitation, and emergency assis
tance to millions of children in more
than 130 developing countries. In
fact, more than 33 million children
have been immunized against polio,
m easles, tuberculosis, diphtheria,
whooping cough, and tetanus.
In the U.S., the cards are tradition
ally marketed by thousands of volun
teers and civic and religious organi
zations. Renowned artists, among
them Picasso, M atisse, M iro and
Dufy, as well as masters from every
continent, have contributed works
for use on UNICEF cards.

three. A rc you paralyzed? does your
helpless form despoil the land? No.
You can move. You are not a tree,
condemned to a small plot., w hile the

stretch and run and dance and work.
For w ithin your m agnificent form , I
have designed five hundred muscles,
two hundred bones, and seven miles

recount this blessing. Is your heart
sickened? Docs it leak and strain to
maintain your life? N ot many. No.
Your heart is strong. Tough your

thirty-six m illio n beats each year, --
year after year, — asleep or awake,
pumping your blood through more

there to help you, my special creation,
to file away for your use, every per
ception, every sound, every taste, ev
ery smell, every action-good-or-bad,
you have experienced since the day o f
your birth. Then I have implanted
deep w ithin these special cells, more
than one thousand b illio n protein
molecules. Every incident that has
happened in your life , is in there --
waiting. W ailing only fo r you to re
call it up for your use, your ticket to
the rig h t road... Then to assist your
brain in, the control o f your body, 1
have dispersed throughout your form ,
five hundred thousand touch detec
tors, four m illio n pain-sensitive struc
tures, and more than tw o hundred
thousand temperature detectors... lis
ten, no nations’ s gold is better pro
tected than you. You are may greatest
miracle... Then I gave only to you, the
power to think, the power to talk, the
power to w ill, the power to laugh, the
power to pray, and the power to love! !
So choose to love - rather than hate.
Choose to laugh - rather than cry.
Choose to create and build - rather
than destroy. Choose to give - rather
than steal. Choose to grow - rather
the earth.....
These special cells are placed rot. Choose to live — rather than die.

Is your blood poisoned? Is it I

drugs, Methamphetamines Etc? No.
W ith in your five quarts o f pure blood,
are twenty-two trillio n blood cells
and w ith in “ each c e ll,” are m illions o f
molecules, and w ithin “ each m ol
ecule” is an atom - oscillating at
more than ten m illio n times each
second. Then each second o f your life,
two m illio n o f your blood cells d ie -to
be instantly replaced by tw o m illion
more brand new cells, this resurrec
tion o f your cells has continued
unbrokened & unnoticed by you since
your birth. This miracle, prevents you
or anybody form staying high on e i
ther drugs, or whatever. I am giving
each person his chance to take the
road o u t-c o u n t another blessing. Are
you feeble o f mind? Can you no longer
think fo r yourselP?? I think not. Y our
brain is my most complex o f all struc
tures in the “ entire universe” ... Be
lieve me - I know ... I put w ithin its

cells - this is more than three times as
many cells as there are people upon
