Tech opened the tournament w ith
a tough 58-48 w in over Grants Pass
fo r Southern Oregon. Benson’ s se­
nior center M fo n Udoka had a game
to remember, w ith 21 points and a
tournament record 23 rebounds. The
old record o f 22 rebounds was held by
G rant’ s C indy Brow n in 1982.
M onica Watts also had a very
good game fo r Tech w ith 15 points
and 13 rebounds. Benson was never
behind in the game, taking a 15-9
lead after the firs t quarter, and a 32-
29 h a lf tim e lead.

On Thursday night Benson met
Springfield, a46-45 winner over Lake
Oswegoon opening night. A fte ra 2 8 -
18 h a lf tim e lead, Tech ran away in
the second in blow ing out The M ill­
ers, 61-34, Watts had a very good
game again w ith 23 points. Udoka
also came up big w ith 11 points and a
game high 14 rebounds.
Next up for Benson was M etro
League Champs, St. M a ry ’ s. The
name o f this game forTech was “ turn­
overs: Benson had 26 turnovers
against The Blues, in fa llin g 59-46 in
Friday night semi-finals. St. M a ry ’ s
point guard Lisa G riffith made three
3-points shots and finished w ith 15
points. Again, Udoka had another big
n ig h tw ith 2 1 points and 14rebounds,
both were game highs.
The loss to St. M a ry ’ s put Benson
in the third place game on Saturday
night w ith C hu rch ill from Eugene.
Tech came away w ith a 56-49 victory,
fo r third place in the tournament.
Watts, the 5 ’ 8" senior forward ended
her season on a good note w ith 15
points. Udoka scored 10 points and
again had a game high 13 rebounds.
Udoka was named to the A ll-
T oumament First Team. She finished
the tournament w ith 63 points and 64
rebounds.

Udoka was the only unanimous
player picked to the All-Tournam ent
Team.
