Bible study is as necessary for the
grow ing C hristian as food is for the
sustaining o f bodily functions. U n
derstanding the Bible leads to the
understanding o f human nature,
which in turn, leads to the develop
m ent o f hopeful, compassionate,
humble, unselfish, loving citizens.
People portrayed in the Bible were
not w ithout flaws. They were disobe
dient, u nfa ithful, hard-hearted, un
believing, rebellious, carnal, pride
ful, manipulative andcovctous. Adam
and Eve, liv in g in an ideal setting,
carefree and loved o f God, jeopar
dized all by disobedience to a direct
command from their Creator. Conse
quences o f their actions were lar-
rcaching and deadly, (Genesis Ch. 3).
Abram and Sarai lost laith in God s
promise and attempted to hurry
G o d ’ s plan to raise nations through
Abram 's seed. W c see the effects o f
their actions to this day as brothers
w ar against brothers in the middle
east countries (Genesis Ch. 16). W c,
through study o f the Bible, find that
G od’ s promises are true. The infinite
strength o f God, the undying love ol
God is available to mankind despite
esis Ch. 21).
A stronger faith, a faith close to
reality, comes from adccpknowledge
and dependent' y on God and H i s prom
ises. Eitch encounter w ith God through
study o f His W ord (the Bible) deepens
the measure o f faith given each o f us
as a g ift, undeserved and unearned.

o f our present so cie ty. Have we
decayed so in body and s p irit that
we cannot now choose another
alternative course? Since God’ s W ord
teaches that God has the ability to
bring good out o f evil...w hy not try
God and His promises for a better
people, a better world?
The Bible tell us God is greater
than the fear which now riddles our
neighborhoods. I f this be true or not
true, we cannot know, unless we study
His W ord and apply His remedies and
see the results for ourselves. What
man w ill not reach out for a lifeja cket
when he is drowning? Are we such
fools, in our worldly wisdom, to choose
violent death, when a way is open
through mere study which w ill allow
us to find out for certain i f God’ s W ill
(for mankind) is good,acceptable and
perfect? Anyone alive today w ith a
mind capable o f thinking, be he C hris
tian or non-believer, cannot deny that
we live in a violent, destructive un
caring society and changes must be
made i f we intend to survive. There
fore, let us, believer and non-believer,
research the Word o f God, The Bible,
learn and apply His cures fo r the evil
in our lives, then w ait upon the re
sults. It couldn’ t hurt and it m ight
help restore safety, peace and har
mony to our neighborhoods. T ry G od!
