Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the
Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon
(Tri-Met) at 3:30 p.m. W ednesday, Septem ber 29, 1993, at
the Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Avenue, 2nd floor, room
C, for the purpose of considering projects for which federal
assistance under Section 3 of the Federal Transit Act is being
sought.
The project under consideration is Westside Light Rail. Tri-
Met received federal approval to design and construct the rail
project in September 1992. This grant application will request
fiscal year 1994 discretionary funds totalling $138,666,666;
$104,000,000 federal share with $34,666,666 local match.
Lead projects to explore, pilot & implement distributed environ­
ment.
Troubleshoot software problems & distributed platforms to main­
tain optimum system functionality.

The W estside Light Rail project begins at the terminus of the
existing Max line at SW 11th Avenue in downtown Portland
and extends westto SW 185th Avenue in W ashington County.
Included in this proposal is funding for right-of-way acquisi­
tion; completion of final design on line sections and systems
including the Operations facility, traction electrification sys­
tem, signals, communications and central control, fare collec­
tion; continuation of design coordination with the rail vehicle
manufacturer; procurement of track and materials; and over­
all project administration. Construction is scheduled to begin
on the east tunnel portal and several line sections. The grant
application also contains a request to integrate art program
activities into the project scope.
