During the week of June 17 I
invited M rs W illiams lo New York
City, where the two of us worked to
lobby for bail reduction to raise money
for the defense and to get the word out
to the Black community about the
case. We raised nearly $5.000 at a
fundraiser organized by The New
Alliance Party
N um erous B lack leaders re ­
sponded to our efforts to give the
case broader public exposure Rever­
end A1 Sharpton invited Mrs Wil­
liams to speak at the National Action
Network. A meeting with Brooklyn
Congressman Ed Towns yielded a
promise of an investigation into the
disparity in bail set for Black and
Portland will soon be having a
chapter of the Executive W om en’s
G olf League, a new organization
formed to unite executive women who
play golf and bring more executiv e
women into the game.

corporate golf outings, but feel that

tional clinics, we re trying to provide
these women with an opportunity to
improve their game, while making

A kick-Off is being held on Tues­
day, August 31, 1993 at prestigious
Pumpkin Ridge G olf Club, Ghost
Hollow Club House in Cornelius,
Oregon located on Old Pumpkin Ridge
Road. The Kick-Off includes, orien­
tation, speakers, tour of the Ghost
Hollow Club House, networking and
sign-up for various events.
The key note speaker will be the
Head Pro at Pumpkin Ridge, Jerry
Mowlds Jerry is well known as the
Director of the PGA o f America as
well as a member of the PGA Pacific
NW Hall o f Fame.
