B oardm an, daughter o f C urt and A nita Boardm an o f Southw est Port­ land, is O reg o n ’s nom inee for the trip sponsored by G uide Dogs for the B lind o f San Rafael. The sponsor o f the 4-H guide dog- puppy program s aw ards one trip to 4 -H m em bers in nine W est­ ern states. B oardm an, w ho will be a senior at W ilson High School, has raised two guide dog puppies. She has m et the ow ner o f the first guide dog she raised Natalie Boardman Wendy Hein and returned to G uide Dogs o f the Blind for final training. A 4-H m em ber for eight years, she has also had projects in clothing, pho­ to g rap h y , and fo o d p rese rv a tio n , am ong others. She is a teen leader o f a 4-H dog and sm all anim al club and serves on the M etro 4-H child developm ent and recognition com m ittees. In addition to4-H , she volunteers at the W ashing­ ton Park Zoo and is active in Explorer Scouts. In school, she volunteers at the W ashington Park Z oo and is ac­ tive in E xplorer Scouts. In school, she volunteers in special education pro­ gram s, has been a counselor at O u t­ door School, runs track and is a m em ­ ber of the yearbook staff. H ein, daughter o f Randall and M ary H ein o f Southeast Portland, is the state nom inee for one o f 37 trips sponsored by A m oco Foundation for achievem ent in the energy m anage­ m ent program . H ein, a 1993 graduate o f C leve­ land High School, plans to study en g i­ neering at OSU. A 4-H m em ber for six years, her projects have included horse, clothing and foods. As part o r her energy m anagem ent program , she learned how to perform routine m ain­ tenance on the fam ily’s tw o cars and kept a record o f their fuel efficiency. She has been a ju n io r leader and teen leader o f her own 4-H hom e econom icsclub. In school, as an honor student she was active in student gov­ ernm ent, music and the Big Sister/ Little Sister program . Kuntz, daughter o f Gary and Kelly K untz, is the nom inee for a trip sp o n ­ sored by B ridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund for her overall achievem ent in leadership. Stahl has had a w ide variety of projects during her four years in 4-H, inc luding food preservation, clothing, knitting, horticulture and expressive arts.
