The con cepts may be applied at locations outside the South Shore Area where the release of hazardous materials could threaten the City's groundwater supply. The handbook contains a mix of design and performance requirements. Currently, the primary requirement is com plete containment of runoff within the portion of the site containing hazardous materials and reliable runoff deten tion to allow clean-up before contaminants reach surface and/or groundwater systems. This is no longer adequate and the hazardous materials containment program will be reevaluated and the handbook revised.
