Kamala Patton, a sophomore from
Seattle, Wash , said the group hopes
to play a part in attracting more mi­
nority students to campus in the years
ahead. "We need more colors, more
diversity. And if you're living here on
campus, you can't crawl into a corner
and hide. You have to learn about
other people. That's very enriching."
Whitman, a private, independent
liberal arts and sciences college of
1,200 students, is the oldest chartered
institution of higher education in the
state of Washington.
Procter & Gamble Chairman and
Chief Executive Edwin L. Artzt, an­
nounced a major gift of $500,000
from the P & G Fund to help under­
write the Children's Campaign of the
Leadership Conference Education
Fund (LCEF). The Children's Cam­
paign is an educational program to
help children develop racial under­
standing and value diversity.
Mrs. Corretta Scott King, founding
president and chief executive officer,
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center
for Nonviolent Social Change; Mr.
Jesse Hill, chairman of the board of
directors of The King Center; and
Mr Artzt have agreed to serve as
principal advisors to the Children's
Campaign
Plans for the Children's Campaign
involve a multfacted education.
Dr. Reedom spent the week of
February 1st - 5th talking to the
parents and teachers from Cleveland
and Grant Cluster Schools.
Dr. Reedom is a well know
speaker who presently is the princi­
pal in Las Vegas Nevada as well as
one who travels across the country.

ruary 3rd at Brookly n school
