Notice Of Intent Nondestructive Testing Of Drilled Shaft Foundation The Oregon Department of Transportation, Bridge Section, is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to perform nondestructive testing on the drilled shaft foundations for the proposed Klamath River Bridge highway project. There are fourteen shafts to be tested. The specified nondestructive testing method will use the Crosshole Sonic Logging tech­ nique The time frame for performing the testing is between April 1 1993, and October 31,1993. The actual dates are dependent on the construction contractors work schedule. The selected consultant will be required to enter into a cost plus fixed fee contract. Ron Stempel Manager Contracts and Procurement Notice Of Public Hearing Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Or­ egon (Tri-Met) at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 27,1993 at the Portland Building, 1120 S.W. 5th Avenue, 2nd floor Room C, for the purpose of considering projects for which federal assistance under Section 3 of the Federal Transit Act, as amended, is being sought. Projects under consideration are Westside Light Rail and Banfield Light Rail Retrofit. The grant application will re­ quest fiscal year 1993 discretionary and formula funds totalling $92,090,868; $69,173,362 federal share with $22,917,506 local match. The Westside Light Rail project begins at the terminus of the existing MAX line at S.W. 11th Avenue in downtown Port­ land and extends west to S.W. 185th Avenue in Washington County. Included in this grant request is funding for right-of- way acquisition; final design; construction for the three-mile tunnel, the line section from the tunnel to Beaverton, and track materials; initial payments for light rail vehicles; and project administration. Final design will proceed on civil work fo rthe remaining line sections, electrification, signals, com­ munications, and the maintenance facility. Revenue service on the Westside line is scheduled to begin in Fall 1997. The Banfield Retrofit project includes expansion and modi­ fication of the existing Ruby Junction operations facility and double tracking, Ruby Junction-Cleveland stations. The grant application requests $2,104,202 for final design and engineering on the project. Should additional funds become available, Tri-Met would proceed with construction of the approximate $21M retrofit. The entire Banfield Retrofit project is scheduled for completion by 1997 to support integrated systems testing for initiation of Westside service. A discussion of displacement of persons, families and businesses is included In the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Westside project. Projects are in conformance with comprehensive land use and transportation planning in the area and are programmed in the region’s Transportation Improvement Program. A statement of .Tri-Met’s charter bus service is available for inspection at the Tri-Met Administration offices. Tri-Met will not be engaging in school bus operations. Private transportation enterprise will not be directly affected by the projects. At the hearing, Tri-Met will afford opportunity for interested persons or agencies to be heard with respect to the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the projects.
