ketball A ssociation, Lucas played w ith
Portland fro m 1976-77 through 1979-
80. He returned fo r his fin a l season,
1987-88, after p la yin g w ith fiv e other
clubs. Lucas, one o f the T ra il B la ze rs’
a ll-tim e leaders in rebounds and blocked
shots, was an assistant coach w ith the
team the year after his retirem ent.

The Eugene Parks, Recreation and
C u ltu ra l Services D epartm ent is spon­
soring b e g in n in g , interm ediate and ad­
vanced in stru ctio n a l v o lle y b a ll classes
fo r adults 18 years o f age and o lder
starting January 11, 1993.
The b eginning vo lle y b a ll class w ill
meet from 8:3 0 -1 0 :0 0 pm on M onday
evenings at Jefferson M id d le School.
The interm ediate class w ill meet fro m
7:00-8:30 pm on W ednesday evenings
it Shasta M id d le School. The advanced
class w ill m eet fro m 8 ;3 O -10:00T h u rs ­
day evenings at M o n ro e M id d le School.
The cost fo r any o f the 8 week
classes is $20 fo r Eugene residents and
$25 fo r non-Eugene residents.
Ramsay, w h o brought Portland its firs t
w o rld cham pionship in 1977. Ramsay
posted a 453-367 record w ith the B la z ­
ers, g u id in g them to the p la y o ffs nine
tim es in 10 years. H is 864 career v ic to ­
ries, c o m p ile d in 21 years w ith P h ila ­
delphia, B u ffa lo , Portland and Indiana,
ranks second o n ly to H a ll o f Fame Red

in to the B asketball H a ll o f Fame on
M a y 11, 1992.

broadcaster w ith the M ia m i Heat, to be
honored w hen the Heat comes to P o rt­
land on January 14. N um ber 77, in
rem embrance o f the B lazers’ cham pi-

to the inaugural season o f 1970-71. In
the B lazers’ firs t six seasons, Petrie
averaged 21.8 p oints and 4.6 assists in
446 games. He ranks am ong the team ’ s
career leaders in points scored, assists
and games played.
Petrie served as analyst on the B laz-
ers’ radio broadcasts fo r fiv e seasons
before taking on his current duties o ve r­
seeing the ares o f basketball operations,
scheduling, team travel and accounting.
M a u r ic e L u c a s averaged 15.6
points and 8.7 rebounds in 330 games in
tw o separate stints w ith the T ra il B la z­
ers. A three-tim e all-star, Lucas rugged
style tw ice earned him all-defensive
team honors. He was voted to the a ll-
N B A second team fo llo w in g the 1977-
78 season.

Blazer forward Buck Williams grabbed the 10,000th rebound of his
career. Williams is now only 1 of 20 NBA players with 10,000 points and
10,000 rebounds. Congratulations Buck Williams.
