Council Approves Towing
Ordinance And Resolution
On Implementation
C ity C o u n c il voted unanim ously to ­
day to approve an ordinance w hich w ould
em pow er a p o lice o ffic e r to tow any
vehicles they fin d to be operated w ith o u t
insurance. Because the ordinance d id not
have an em ergency clause, it w ill not
become e ffe c tiv e fo r th irty days. The
ordinance was amended last w eek to add
a “ sunset cause" w h ich provides that the
ordinance w ill exp ire o r “ Sunset” after a
year o f operating i f its co n tin u a tio n can­
not be ju s tifie d .
A t the same tim e ,C ity C o u n cil unani­
m ously approved a resolution o u tlin in g
the m anner in w h ic h they w ant to see the
ordinance im plem ented, the R esolution:
1. C o m m its C ity C o u n c il to review
the im p a ct o f the ordinance after six
months;
2. C o m m its the C ity , d u rin g the firs t
six m onths o f the ordinance, to pay the
