The IFCC Theatre celebrates its
tenth anniversary w ith a season o f
“ greatest hits,” beginning w ith George
c. W o lfe ’s satirical revue w ith music
The Colored Museum. Performances
are November 5 - 29 at the Interstate
Firehouse C ultural Center, 5340 N. In
terstate Avenue.
The Colored Museum has had two
highly successful and popular runs at
the IFCC, in February 1989 and again
inNovember 1989. M o sto f the original
cast w ill return fo r his revival. Reviews
in the Oregonian have called The C o l
ored Museum “ audacious theatre, chal
lenging politics, and one o f the best
shows in town... a dynamite script w ith
a dynamo cast.” Using a carefully con
cocted mixture o f song, w it and w is
dom, The Colored Museum is a sophis
ticated, satirical show exploring the
myths and changes o f Black America.
A t times hilariously funny or haunt-
in g ly poignant, eleven “ e x h ib its ”
(scenes) in a museum setting lampoon
the stereotypes and sacred cows o f B lack
culture.
The talented cast features Brenda
P H illips, who won the W illie Aw ard for
Best Actress in a M usical for her o rig i
nal performance in The Colored M u
seum. Brenda has recently appeared in
Red Beans And Rice, A ...M y Name Is
A lice and Stories About The O ld Days.
Other original cast members include
Louise Moaning, seen recently in Red
Beans And Rice; Neal Thomas, fea
tured in last season’ s production o f A
Soldier’s Play; and Denise W illiam s,
who also appeared in Red Beans And
Rice, as w ell as K ind O f Heart and
Passin’ . Percussionist/actor Nyewusi
Askari also returns for this revival, and
the cast is completed by newcomer
Kenneth Dembo, whose previous ap
pearances include A S oldier’ s Play and
