their strong dedication to the welfare o f

On W ednesday, July 15, Essence
Communicauons, Inc., hosted a luncheon
tocelcbrate Women In National Politics.
Carol M oseley Braun, Cook County
Recorder of Deeds and candidate for the
U.S. Senate from the state of Illinois,
provided the keynote speech, “Preserv­
ing O ur Fam ilies,’’ to the luncheon’s
guests. The event, hosted by The H onor­
able Sharon Pratt Kelly, May or of Wash -
ington, D .C ., and chaired by The Honor­
able Clarence Norman, Jr., Chairman of
the Brooklyn Democratic Organization,
was held at the New York Hilton Hotel.

was married to the late Andy E. Spencer
in San Francisco, Ca. April 10, 1941,
Mr. Spencer died December 17, 1970.
Lorena was raised and educated in
Port Arthur, Texas. As a young woman
she moved to San Francisco, Ca. where
she lived, married and raised her family
until the family moved to Portland, OR
in 1957. A longtime North Portland
resident, loved to garden & devoted to
her family. She was mem ber of Queen
of Peace Parish since her arrival in
Portland in 1957.

The rummage sale will begin at 9
a.m., which includes workable appli­
ances, clothes, art work, books and
many other house hold items. After you
shop, pick up your choice of Barbecue
Ribs or Bar-BQ Chicken and Fried
Chicken dinners.
