While many new names have ar­
rived on the scene recently to compete
in the field of R&B balladcers, Freddie
Jackson remains at the top of the games
with his fifth Capitol release, Time for
Love. Now in fine fighting form (he’s
dropped 40 pounds since his last record
and is still losing!), the svelte Mr. Jack-
son has thrown his hat into the ring with
a new single, “I could Use A Little Love
Right Now.” The record also features a
sensuous cover of soul classic “Me and
Mrs. Jones,” “I Don’t What to Live My
Life Without You” (a “Capitol” num­
ber featuring label mate D’Atra Hicks
and produced by Richard Marx), and a
hot guest appearance by saxophonist
Najec on “All I Ever Ask,” produced by
industry legend Arif Martin. Hitmalker
Barry Eastmond lent his writing, pro­
duction and musical talents to several
tracks as well. Freddie’s track record of
multi-platinum and gold albums speaks
for itself, and this new release should
prove once again that he’s the one and
only champ.

Guild will present a benefit fashion
show at Sheba’s House of Elegance at
3223 NE Broadway in Portland on Sun­
day, August 23rd from 2 - 5 p.m. Ad­
mission, which includes light refresh­
ments, is S I0 per person.
The show will feature men’s and
women’s fashions from Sheba’s, Just
James, and Donnie’s Accessories. The
theme is “Cultural Spice,” clothing that
adds a cultural accent to a professional
or everyday wardrobe.
Tickets are available in advance
and at the door. Net proceeds will go to
the Urban League Guild, a volunteer
organization that works to support Ur­
ban League activities. For information
