on June 10,1992.

H ig h School in R ich m o n d but co m ­
pleted his G .E .D . in P ortland, O regon
M arch 1 6 ,1 9 7 0 and attended P ortland
C o m m u n ity C ollege in 1969 to 1970.

the tim e o f his death he was em ployed
on the Seattle w a te rfro n t as a Checker.
D u rin g the 6 0 ’ s and thru the 7 0 ’s
S m itty served on the boards o f the A l ­
bina C itizens W a r on P overty C o m m it­
tee, A lb in a C o rp o ra tio n , The B la c k
Caucus and the P ortland Greater C o u n ­
c il o f Churches. He served his co u n try
w ith d is tin c tio n fro m 1942 to 1944 in
the U.S. N a vy, fro m 1950 to 1960 in the
U.S. A ir Force and received a Bronze
Star. S m itty is s u rv iv e d b y o n e d a u g h te r
N ic o le A ndrenna S m ith o f B ellevue,
W ashington and m any lo n g tim e de­
voted friends. Services were held at C o x
M o rtu a ry in P ortland, Oregon at 11:00
June, 19, 1992.
