Invitation For Bid
Sealed bids for the construction of Portland State University,
Smith Memorial Center, IASC Remodel will be received from
interested Contractors by: The Oregon State Board of Higher
Education, at Room 202E; University Services Bldg.: 617 S. W.
Montgomery St.; Portland State University; Portland, Oregon
97207, until 3:00 PM prevailing local time, on Tuesday June 2,
1992. Bids will not be opened until 24 hours later, at which time,
Part II of the affirmative Action Reports are due. Upon receipt
of Part II of the Affirmative Action forms, the Bids will be publicly
opened and thereafter read aloud by the undersigned or his
designated representative.
The work is described as the interior renovation of Smith
Memorial Center, to include the IASC (information Access
Support Center), a portion of the existing Parking Office and
electrical work. Smith Memorial Center is located on the east
campus at 1825 S.W. Broadway.
A mandatory Pre-bid Conference to answer questions about the
project will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 1992, at 10:00 a.m.

Description of Work:
Installation of Port-furnished taxiway centerline lighting fix
tures and taxiway guidance signs; kerf cutting and core drilling
existing pavements as required to install centerline lights and
related conduits; and installation of conduit and wire.
A prebid conference will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May
14, 1992, at the Portland International Airport Maintenance
Facility, 7111 N. E. Alderwood Road, Portland, Oregon, to
discuss all phases of the work.

Bids must be on the bid form which will be provided to prospective
bidders and must be accompanied by a certified or cashier’s
check drawn on a United States bank or a bid bond payable to The
Port of Portland in an amount equal to at least 10 percent of the
total amount bid.
Bidders are required to prequalify in the following category:
Electrical Wiring - Commercial, Industrial, General Wiring
Pre-qualification applications must be submitted not later than 5
business days prior to the bid opening date.
The drawings and the contract manual may be examined at Port
offices. Copies may be obtained by prospective bidders at no cost
from Contracts and Procurement (address above).
This is a federal aid contract, and all labor shall be paid no less
than the minimum wage rates established by the U. S. Secretary
of Labor, as included in the contract documents.
The labor and civil rights requirements in the Bid and the Supple
mentary conditions apply to this work. The proposed contract is
underthe subject of Executive Order 11246on Nondiscrimination
Under Federal Contracts, September 24,1965, and as amended;
and 49 CFR Part 23, on Participation By Disadvantaged Business
Enterprises in United States Department of Transportation Pro
grams, March 31, 1980, and as amended.
Disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full opportu
nity to subm it bids in response to this invitation and will not be
discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin,
or sex in consideration for an award of any contract entered into
pursuant to this advertisement.
Bidders are required to state whether or not the bidder is a
resident bidder, as defined in ORS 279.029. (Reference Article 3
of the Instructions to Bidders).
No bid will be received or considered unless the bidder is
registered with the State of Oregon construction Contractors
Board pursuant to ORS 701.055 (1), prior to subm itting a bid
(Reference Articles 10,12, and 13 in the Instructions to Bidders.)
A license for asbestos work under ORS 468A.720 is not required
for this work.
Bids may be rejected if not in compliance with bidding procedures
and requirements. Any or all bids may be rejected if in the public
interest to do so.

The Salem Area Mass Transit District (SAMTD) is seeking bids
for cleaning passenger shelters, the Cherriot Station Transfer
point, and certain adjacent areas. Shelters are located through
out the service area of SAMTD.
Proposals will be received at 3140 Del Webb Avenue NE,
Salem, OR 97303-4165 until, but not after, 4:00 PM lo cal tim e,
W edne sday, June 10,1992, at which time bids received will be
publicly opened and read.

Pre-qualification Of Bidders Pursuant to the Multnomah County

Pre-qualification shall be required for this project for the following
class(es) of work: Aggregate Crushing.
Pre-qualification applications or statements must be prepared
during the period of one year prior to the bid date. Pre-qualifica
tion application and proof of Pre-qualification by the Oregon
Department of Transportation must be actually received or
postmarked to Multnomah County Purchasing Section by not
later than 10 days prior to bid opening.
All bidders must comply with the requirements of the prevailing
wage law in ORS 279.350.
