Bill Cosby donated his time and
talent to help Crossroads Theatre com
pany celebrate the opening o f their new
building, recognizing the company’s past
accom plishm ents and encouraging its
future efforts in support of Black theater
artists.
“ AT&T Presents Bill Cosby Live!
A Salute to Crossroads Theatre com
pany” formally opened Crossroads’ new
building Oct. 25-27 in New Brunswick’s
dow ntow n district, at the heart o f the
city ’s cultural center.
Ricardo Khan (pictured, second from
left) C rossroads’ co-founder, producer
and artistic director, said C osby’s “ gen
erosity toward Crossroads is an affirm a
tion o f the im portant role that profes
sional African American Theater plays
in nurturing and supporting the work of
black artists and also as a keeper o f the
culture.”
A T& T Chairm an Robert E. Allen
and his wife Betty (pictured at right)
also attended the event. AT&T spon
sored the gala events surrounding Cosby’s
five perform ances and the opening of
the new $3 m illion facility.
O ver the past 10 years, AT&T has
contributed a quarter-million dollars to
Crossroads, emphasizing the company’s
com m itm ent to the creation of new ar
tistic works and to bringing the work of
women and minority artists to a wider
public.
“ AT&T is proud to continue its 10-
year relationship with Crossroads as a
sponsor of this historic event,” said
Allen.
“ Crossroads has helped create an
aw areness, not only in New Jersey, but
nationally, of the contributions by Black
playwrights, actors and directors to the
theatre arts.”
Founded in 1978, Crossroads for
merly occupied a century-old onetim e
garment factory on the edge of the city’s
downtown area, where it has created
and produced works that have gone on
to national and international acclaim
such as “ Black Eagles,” the story o f the
Tuskegee A irm en. The 1991 -92 theater
season for this A ctor’s Equity regional
theater begins with a production of
“ Black O rpheus,” inspired by the 1958
film focusing on the classic love story of
O rpheus and Eurydice set in present-
day Trinidad during Carnival.

(NU) - If these recessionary times
are finding you a little weak in the
wallet, here are a couple of tips that
will help save money.
1. Entertain at home.
2. Join a no-frills warehouse club.
The benefits of entertaining at
home are obvious. However, many
shoppers are surprised that clubs su> h
as Price Club can cut the cost ol
entertaining in half.
The 7 million members ot Price
Club, which has 76 warehouse-type
outlets in 10 states and three prov
inces in Canada, often say they save
50 percent or more on even the most
lavish party spreads for most any
event from weddings and birthdays
to holidays and special events.
The Price Club membership fee
of $25 a year provides access to a
w ide range of brand-name foods in
package sizes usually purchased by
restaurants and caterers.
Many Price Club w arehouses
carry liquor, beer and wine, and all
of them have soft drinks, mixers,
coffee and other party goods at rock-
bottom prices.
To see if there is a Price Club in
your area, call I -6 19-496-6908 or
consult the white pages of your tele
phone book.
