Emanuel and the On M onday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m ., an official ground breaking will be held in N ortheast Portland for the Eliot Homes, fifteen Fairview Training Center residents with intensive m edi­ cal needs will live in three group homes. Speaking at the ground breaking will be Fairview parent, Betty Cum ber­ land, who was involved in planning the project. H er daughter, M uriel, will be moving into the Eliot Homes next spring. Among the features o f the Eliot Homes: *The homes are specially equipped for residents with intensive medical needs. The homes are within two blocks of Emanuel Hospital and Medical Center so the residents will have immediate access to medical care if an emergency occurs. Emanuel physician, D oug Beers, will supervise the medical needs o f the residents. The design is planned to be com patible with the older hom es in the Eliot Neighborhood. M odels o f the hom es will be available at the ground breaking. *The homes will be state operated with many em ployees who have trans­ ferred from Fairview Training Center. Four Fairview residents, who will move to the homes in M arch, will travel to the ground breaking. Speaking at the ground breaking with Mrs. Cum ber­ land will be: Richard C.
