Said college has determined specifications for such bids, copies o f which

Description o f W ork to be Accomplished:
The work w ill include the removal o f existing roofing and replacement
with a new bituminous built-up roofing system, some H VAC and electrical
work is involved as is minor demolition.
Bidders may not withdraw their bids after the hour set for the opening
thereof until after the elapse o f thirty (30) days from the bid opening, and all
bid proposals shall contain a statement that the provision o f ORS 279.350 re
lating to the prevailing wage rates shall be complied with.
Prequalification is not required for this work. Bidders are required to be
registered with the State o f Oregon Construction Contractors Board, pursuant
to ORS 701.055(1).
Emerging Small Business Enterprises w ill be afforded fu ll opportunity to
submit bids in response to this solicitation and w ill not be discriminated against
on the grounds o f race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award
o f any Contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement.
Emerging Small Business Enterprise goals on any Contract to be awarded
as a result o f this solicitation are ten percent (10%). Bidders responding must
meet these goals or demonstrate good faith efforts to do so. Only those firms
certified by the Oregon Executive Department w ill be counted toward meeting
these goals.
It is the position o f Portland Community College not to contract with a

Sealed bids must be delivered to the Solid W aste Departm ent at
Metro, 2000 S.W. First Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97201 -5398 to
the attention of Ray Barker, Assistant Facilities manager, no later
than 3:00 p.m. PDT, July 29, 1991, at which time they will be
publicly opened and read in the Council Chamber. Each Bid must
contain a statem ent as to whether the bidder is a resident bidder,
as defined in ORS 279. 029. Bidders are not required to have an
asbestos abatement license as provided in ORS 468.883.
The work contem plated consists of hauling and processing into
usable products source-separated yard debris from Metro South
Station. Approxim ately 1,500 tons of source-separated yard
debris will be available, from the Metro South Station during the
one-year contract period. The tonnage am ount is an estimate
only, is used for the purposes of bid price calculation, and may
vary considerably depending on various disposal factors within
the Metropolitan area.
Metro may reject any bid not in compliance with all prescribed

good cause any or all bids upon a finding of the agency it is in the
public interest to do so.

procurement and installation of a sweeper (riding type) for the

leges and universities in asbestos abatem ent through June 30,
1993. Scope of work to include: 1) surveying for asbestos, de
signing projects, writing project manuals and administering proj
