The proposed Measure 5 budget cuts of
vocational services for people with
developmental disabilities is going to
have a devastating effect on individu
als, their families and the community.
On May 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at
Good will Industries (855 Seneca), the
Association of Retarded Citizens is
sponsoring an opportunity to speak up
and be heard. The rally will give people
a chance to become updated on the
proposed cuts and then write letters to
legislators about their concerns and fears.
The rally is open to all interested
Lane County residents and coincides
with a statewide rally being held in
Salem earlier in the day. For those who
may find travel to Salem difficult, the
ARC rally at Goodwill provides a local
opportunity to become involved. Let
ters written during the rally will be
hand delivered to Slate Ways and Means
Committee members the next day. For
more information, call Dan Close at
346-2575.
