This top level management position reports
directly to the Directorof Public works
and oversees all facets of the division,
including program planning, budget
development, daily operations and

oversee 25 staff members divided

vision: Building Inspections, Plans

This position serves as Thurston County’s
Chief Building Official and as Fire
Chief, directing the operations of the
Fire Prevention Bureau and the sub­
contractors, who perform fire inspec­
tion, arson investigation and provide
pubic information/education. The
Deputy director represents the County
in code development issues at local,
state, national and international level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This
position requires a four-year degree in
Public Administration, Construction
Management, Fire Service Admini­
stration or equivalent. A Masters de­
gree is highly desirable. Ten years of
progressively responsible experience
in municipal operations, building code
enforcement, design and construction
engineering or related field must be
evidenced. A minimum of five years
of management level experience re­
quired. Must possess professional li­
censing as an engineer, architect or
certification as a Building Official or
Professional Code Administrator with
multiple levels of I.C.B.O. or I.A.P.M.O.
certification.
