OFFICIAL OPENING OF SECTION 8 PROGRAM
On October 29, 1990 the Housing Authority of Portland will be accepting
applications for the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment Program (Certificates
and Vouchers) for Studio, Two, Three, Four, and Five Bedroom families. The waiting
list will be open for one day only.
Families eligible for the above units will call these numbers to apply: 288-0110,
288-0118,288-0120,288-0154.288-0236.288-0403. Hearing Impaired and Other
Disabilities: TDD# 226-6095..Cails will be accepted between the hours of 8:00 am
and 4:00 pm. PHONE LINES WILL BE CLOSED FROM 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
The One Bedroom list was closed on September 5 and will re-open when ad­
vertised at a future date.
Federal Preference priority will be given. Priority based on:
1) individuals/families displace through no fault of their own
2) Individuals/families living in substandard housing as defined by HUD
3) Individuals/families paying more than 50% of their income for rent and utili­
ties.
Applicants on the present waiting list for Public Housing must specifically apply
for the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program if they wish to participate. Applicants
who are on the Public Housing waiting list will not lose their place on that list by
applying for the Section 8 waiting list.
Application will be by Phone Call only. We will not accept applications by mail
or walk-in delivery. YOU MUST CALL TO APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM. Only one
fam ily’s application will be accepted per phone call.
