The Oregon Department o f Forestry is currently seeking an individual fo r the po­
sition o f Deputy State Forester. The Deputy is the chief o f operations and is
responsible fo r the agency perform ing a ll aspects o f its day-to-day activities
in an excellent manner. The Oregon Department o f Forestry is a progressive
natural resource agency that serves diverse customers and values innovation
and high quality performance. This position requires executive leadership
skills; the a bility to establish and maintain effective and cooperative w ork­
ing relationships w ith the legislature, state and federal agencies, local ju ris ­
dictions, a variety o f interest groups and the public; and the a b ility to make
group resource management decisions. Q ualifications are: Five years o f
management experience in a public or private organization which included
responsibility fo r development o f program rules and policies, long and short
range goals and plans, program evaluation and budget preparation. Graduate
level coursework in management may be substituted fo r up to one year o f the
required experience. Preference w ill be given to candidates w ith experience
in the forest management area and knowledge o f w ildland fire control and
the ICS system.
