X-windows Programmer: works with a team of physicians and computer
scientists to design and prototype user interfaces and applications for a
physician’s workstation. Programs and debugs applications and user inter­
faces in X-windows. Provides routine and advanced system maintenance for
a network of workstations. Performs object-oriented programming in support
of the related activities of the Biomedical Information Communication
Center. May be expected to manage work of other programming staff on
occasion. Writes technical reports and scientific papers relating to primary
assignment. Qualifications: Master’s degree in a quanitiative discipline; or
Bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline with two to three years of
experience; or the equivalent. Experience must include use of C. Degree in
computer science and knowledge of X-windows and UNIX highly desirable.
Experience with user-interface designs also desirable.
NeXT Programmer: works with a team of physicians and computer scientists to
design and prototype user interfaces and applications for a physicians’s work­
station. Programs and debugs applications and user interfaces in NeXTStep.
Provides routine and advanced system maintenance for a network of worksta­
tions. Performs object-oriented programming in support of the related activi­
ties of the Biomedical Information Communication Center. May be expected

ports and scientific paper relating to primary work assignment. Qualifications:
M aster’s degree in a quantitative discipline: or a Bachelor’s degree in a
quantitative discipline with two to three years o f experience; or the equivalent.
Experience must include use of C. Degree in computer science and knowledge
of objective-C, NeXTStep and UNIX highly desirable. Experience with user-
interface design also desirable.
Macintosh Programmer: works with physician/computer scientist to design and
evaluate innovative medical information retrieval research project.Programs
and debugs in both C and LISP on the Macintosh and on UNIX workstations.
Other responsibilities include assistance with organization and data collection
of studies evaluating the software in clinical settings. Qualifications: Master’s
degree in a quantitative discipline; or a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative dis­
cipline with two to three years of experience; or the equivalent. Experience
must include use of C and LISP. Degree in computer science and knowledge
of Macintosh toolbox and HyperCard highly desirable. Experience with user-
interface design also desirable.
