African American Community with its unique presentation of the Northwest Gospel Jubilee

time with the presentation of several art forms, i.e.: vocal and instrumental music, Afrikan
Dance, Afrocentric theatre and an informative educational narrative.
Mattie Ann Callier-Spears is a local

the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on any
Sunday, during the year. This soloist

will mesmerize an audience with her
version of gospel hymns and old-time

THE SERMONETTES
Northwest Gospel Jubilee
Saturday, June 16,1990
The Serm onettes of P o rtland is a group of six female vocalist who began over 20 years ago-w hile singing in the church
choir together. It was decided that they should expand their ministry in gospel music so that they could reach people outside
of their church community. The Sermonettes felt that gospel music was another avenue by which they could share, with others,
the joy and blessings that God had given them. This highly spirited resounding vocal group is under the direction of Mrs.
Dorothy Davis.
