The Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) invites proposals to rehabili­
tate rental housing units under the Section 8 project-based assistance
program. This program attaches two to fifteen years of Section 8 rent
assistance to units that are rehabilitated to meet local code requirements
and Section 8 Housing Quality Standards. Proposals considered for
selection must respond to HAP policy objectives and be eligible under
the definitions in the code of Federal Regulations (CFR 24, Part 882,
Subpart G). Key criteria include:

The Oregon State Board of Higher Education invites nominations and
applications for the position of President of Portland State University. The
President, the chief executive officer of theUniversity, is accountable
through the Chancellor to theBoard of Higher Education. The appointment
will be effective Summer 1990.
Portland State University is a comprehensive university located in the heart

THE OPPORTUNITY

NOTICE OF INTENT
The Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) has been given approval by
the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to purchase 16
three-bedroom and 2 four-bedroom units under their Conventional
Housing Program, Acquisition without Rehabilitation. These homes
should be located within the city limits of Portland, on improved streets
and connected to sewer. Preference will be given to homes built within
the last 10 years or recently rehabilitated with energy conservation
measures. All homes must be free of lead base paint
The Oregon Department of Transportation, Highway Division, is seeking
the qualifications from consulting engineering firms with demonstrated
experience in highway engineering. The Division proposes to engage
consultants for the following projects:
1. Airport Way Interchange, Airport Way-Columbia Boulevard
2. Rhododcndron-Timberline
All pruchascs will be either vacant houses at the time of the offer or
owner occupied. Pursuant to Federal Regulations 24 CFR subpart and
if a mutually satisfactory agreement cannot be reached, the Housing
