patch assistance for Port Police,
Fire, Operations and Maintenance
Departments, Coordination of air­
port communications wilh out­
side agencies as needed, and serv­
ice the Ports, businesses and pub­
lic for 24-hour communication
needs. Anticipated duties to in­
clude, but not limited to:
* Dispatches and receives infor­
mation over Port, police, fire
and emergency radio frequen­
cies. Maintains contact wilh
field units, notes status. Dis­
patches police units as appro­
priate and coordinates incident
communications to resolution.
* Handles incoming phone calls
from public,airport businesses
and emergency lines, responds
in professional, expeditious and
courteous manner.
* Operates and enters informa­
tion into police computer sys­
tem, fire alarm and security
computer systems.
* Monitors flex-response alarm
system, gate controls and se­
curity surveillance cameras and
lakes approp. action.
* Relays information to and car­
ries out instructions given by
the P olice S hift W atch
Commander ,Firc DcpL and OPS
Supervisor on duty.
* Performs as professional com­
munications dispatcher and
communications coord, for the
airport. Handles in-housc and
city/county demands.
Works with limited supervision in a
demanding atmosphere.
Preferred qualifications include:
* Related work experience. Ca­
pable of learning to operate
equipment and machines asso­
ciated wilh the Communica­
tions Ccntcr(i.e. console posi­
tion, teletype,tape machine).
* Must work shift as assigned.
* Subject to possible stand-by in
case o f emergency.
* Willing to attend in-service train­
ing schools and classes.
* Able to work overtime with
short notice.
Demonstrated ability to work in stress­
ful environment successfully.
