Thankful For
Children

Columbia recording artist Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley
is riding high on the charts with her first single,
"Thanks For My Child” from her debut album, Me,
Myself And I.”
Cheryl, a Brooklyn native, jumped at the oppor­
tunity to record the tune written by the six-man band,
Full Force, who discovered and manage, in addition
to Riley, such acts as Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and UTFO.
Wherever played, “Thanks For My Child instantly
becomes the number one most-requested song. Un­
doubtedly, it will be a national number one record.
A nurse specializing in the care of handicapped
children, Pepsii says, “ I’ve worked with children who
too often are not appreciated by their parents. I feel
every parent should thank God for their child, no mat­
ter what. I wish this message could reach and
pace with their coniinueu piuyieo-
sion, appear locked in an enduring
struggle with men, who they say
have the enviable position of being
a commodity. Black men however,
disagree. "Men seem to always
have more at risk in relationships,”
says Richard Eddington, 29. “ it’s
always our egos or our money
that’s on the line,” he notes.
While both sides seemingly
grapple for control, women ex­
press outright confusion about
what men want in relationships.
"They tell you they want an in­
telligent, outspoken woman-of-the
'80s type,” says Valerie Quinn, 30.
"But those aren’t the women they
make commitments to.”
As Black women decry a “ short­
age” of eligible Black men, and
men continue to content with their
changing roles in society, it is a

When I buy firewood, how

Firewood is usually sold

You may have heard the term
“ face” cord. A face cord refers to a
stack of wood 8 feet long, 4 feet
high and as wide as the length of
the wood. It is always less than a
full cord, so it should cost less.
To make sure you get a full cord
you should measure it stacked
before you pay for it. You can
measure it on the truck or on the
ground. The dimensions can differ
from 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet as
long as the volume of length times

feet.
