Fashion Soars Sky High
^ ^ k Q u a lity Is Low!

Fashion! It’s a continuous conver
sational topic, and the focus
heightens with escalating prices.
Retailers are sticking hefty prices
on garments that are below
standards.
Hems are unraveling, seams are
busting and fabrics are fading.
S h rin k a g e
is a co m m o n
occurence.
A $300 designer dress often is
unlined and poorly constructed.
Expensive does not necessarily
mean quality. Consumers, in view
of inflation, are taking a longer
look at garment quality.
Retailers, on the other hand, say
consumers always complain. But
they also note that the falling
M
dollar on the European market has
caused textile imports to soar and
p re d ic t th e in c re a s e s w ill
continue.
In view of this, those of us who
are serious fashion animals may
have to co n s id e r d is c o u n t
designer stores and half-yearly
sales.
Remembering quality, not quan
tity, is vital in selecting your-
fashion wardrobe. You will enjoy
more use from a few classic items.
Stick to pure natural fibers. Before
you purchase a garment, turn it
inside out and check the seams.
This will indicate how well the gar
ment is constructed. When buying
coats and jackets make sure you
have extra buttons.
In order for your clothes to flat
ter you, they must fit well. Have all
alterations done before you wear
something new. Remember fash
ion length is optional, so select
the length that's most flattering to
you.
Fashion says a great deal about
who we are, so it is very important
to send the correct fashion mes
sage. With patience and effort it is
possible to dress wonderfully. The
key is selective shopping.
FALL
O c a rv e s were paraded down the
runways of New York and Paris,
wrapped around the head and
throat and trailing dram atically
behind. W orn under wide brim hats,
w ith lots of heavy pearls and gold
chained belts. Scarves flung over
the shoulders to give a draping
effect. A new, yet very fem inine
touch, the scraf is pinned to the
side of a skirt or dress pocket w ith
a large gold or pearl pin.
