The day has not ended and the night has not begun The birds haven't ceased their singing and there are songs that must be sung. My eyes are heavy with crying for the young I’ve suckled here Come! Hold me closer Come! Ever so near. I’ve tried to appease my neighbors, my friends and my family I've tried to lift up my voice and shout out “ Yes, you're FREE." But in return, my dearest — are sounds of life forlorn Shadowed by colors of gloom and mist of grey untorn. Rise! Oh, rise and see the barreness that surrounds us as we sleep Our eyes are windows to our souls and our hearts with joy should leap. Stronger are we as we stand together here with light upon our face Adorn ourselves with sunlight and truth should have a place. For all that we have done here is apparent and sublime Now exit through the portal and enter a race with time by Teal Thompson I I EXODUS: Chapters 20 & 21 "The Eyes and Ears of the Community” 288-0033 Funeral services were held on Monday, August 1, 1988 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel AME Church. Support For South African Sanctions Urged P IT T S B U R G H ( U M N S ) — United Methodist Bishop James Mase Ault, president of the church's international missions agency, July 26 urged all members of the U.S. House of Representatives to support a comprehensive economic sanc tions bill against the apartheid government of South Africa. "Sanctions will work," Bishop Ault said in his letter. He cited a study by a "conservative" West German institute that the bishop said "makes clear that sanctions applied by the United States, Great Britain, France, West Ger man. Switzerland and Japan would break apartheid." <=>! Jesus Loves You! Allen Temple CME Church 4236 N.E. Eighth Avenue (comer of 8th & Skidmore) Portland, Oregon 97211 (503) 287-0261 Phillip S.
