PUBLIC NOTICE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS DBE/WBE GOALS It is the policy of the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) that Dis­ advantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Wo- ment Business Enterprises (WBEs), as defined in 49 CFR 23.62 and 23.5, respectively, shall have the max­ imum opportunity to participate in the performance of contracts and subcontracts financed in whole or in part with federal funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Private Industry Council GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING PROPOSALS DUE by 5:00 p.m .. Septem ber 2 1 ,1987 The Private Industry Council (TPIC) is soliciting pro­ posals for delivery of support group and individual therapeutic counseling services to be delivered in cooperation with Project Independence, a program jointly operated by TPIC and Portland Community College. Services will be provided to single parents and displaced homemakers enrolled in Project Inde­ pendence. In this regard, Tri-Met has established overall goals for Federal Fiscal Year 1987-1988 of 10% DBE and 2% WBE participation in federally-assisted con­ tracts. Small Business Administration, Clackamas Com­ munity College, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives are co-sponsoring a Business Success workshop on the college campus on Thursday, August 27. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with registration at 8:30. The workshop is intended for those wanting to start their own busi­ ness or those already in business. Subjects covered will be success and failure fac­ tors, marketing and sales, recordkeeping, SBA pro­ grams, money management, and legal considera­ tions. Each subject will be taught by a different instructor with practical experience in dealing with small business.
