STRUCTURAL SAFETY
ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
Portland State University is seek­
ing to fill the position of Ad­
missions Counselor. This is a re­
newable fixed term appointment
and reports directly to the Direc­
tor of Admissions. Salary range
is $18,000 to $20,000. Qualifi­
cations include Baccalaureate de­
gree, experience in higher educa­
tion or post secondary admis­
sions fields with demonstrated
knowledge of admissions proce­
dures and practices. Ability to
meet and counsel students, par­
ents and others. Ability to or­
ganize and communicate orally
and in writing, ability to work
with faculty and academic de­
partments, evidence of initiative
and innovation and possession of
a valid license and appropriate
insurance to operate a motor
vehicle. Responsibilities include:
advising students, potential stu­
dents and interested others re­
garding academic programs at
PSU, admissions and financial
aid. Assist with making follow­
up telephone calls, preparing
mailings, leading campus tours,

fire prevention, code enforce­
ment, building permits, plans re­
views and inspections, and devel­
opment of hazardous materials
preparedness and response pro­
gram. Minimum AA degree in
fire prevention or related field
and three years experience at
Captain or above required. Fire
command experience required.
Must obtain State Building Offi­
cial certification within one year.
Salary: $2527 - $3072 plus ex­
cellent benefits.
