Sealed bids will be received by the Purchasing Mana­
ger of the Port of Portland, 700 N.E. Multnomah
Street, Portland, Oregon (mailing address: P.O. Box
3529, Portland, OR 97208) for items detailed herein
until the individually specified dates and times indi­
cated, and thereafter publicly opened and read.
Plans and specifications may be examined and/or
obtained at the above address. Contact the Purcha­
sing Department at 231-5000, Ext. 588.
Bids must be on the bid form provided to prospec­
tive bidders and, when Bid Surety is required, must
be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check
drawn on a United States bank, or a bid bond pay­
able to the Port of Portland in an amount equal to at
least 10 percent of the total amount bid.
When prequalification is required, the prequalifica­
tion statements should be received at least 5 days
prior to the time set for bid opening. Applications
for prequalification may be submitted less than 5
days before bid opening, but consideration by the
Port cannot be assured.

The University is seeking qualified applicants to head the \
D epartm ent o f Adm inistrative O ffice System s, one of five
in the College of Business Adm inistration with seven full
tim e facu lty and 288 students in departm ent programs.
The departm ent offers an A ssociate Degree in Secretarial
A dm inistration with four options: a Bachelor o f Science
with majors in Adm inistrative Support Management
(ASM ) and Business Education and a m inor in ASM; and
in cooperation with the D epartm ent of Teacher E duca­
tio n , a major and m inor in Business Education at the
m aster’s level.
Q ualifications include an earned d octorate in Business
E ducation or closely related field, college teaching experi­
ence, establish re search/publication record, evidence of
active participation in university and public service, evi­
dence o f leadership ab ility, and evidence o f active partici­
pation in professional organizations. College adm inistra­
tive experience desirable.

R esponsibilities include budgeting, student recruitm ent
and advising, program develop m en t, representing faculty
interests, and a reduced teaching load. Candidates m ust
be able to relate well to students, faculty, and other
administrators. Candidates should be qualified for
appointm ent at a senior rank. Western K entucky Univer­
sity enrolls over 1 2 ,0 0 0 students in four undergraduate
colleges and the graduate college and is located in Bowling
Green, a southcentral K entucky city o f approxim ately
