They are currently playing at the
Jazzman Tree, S.W. 4th & Harri­
son.
The beautiful people who play
with Billy are Gene Smith, Smitty
White and Yama Lee.
New friends Traci McAllister and James Scarver, of Birmingham,
Alabama, stationed with the USS Horne in San Diego, spend the
closing moments of the Rose Festival together.

The Struggle Against Racist Violence
36th Annual D ebutante Ball
On Sunday evening, June 28, 1987, Les Femmes will present approxi­
mately 20 debutantes and cavaliers at the 36th annual Debutante Ball.
Around the theme "Today's Dreams, Tomorrow's Accomplishments,"
these young women and men will make their public debut celebrating their
high school graduations and achievements. This year. Les Femmes have
the distinct honor of presenting one of the Rose Festival Princesses.
The ball will begin at 7:00 P.M. at the Red Lion Jantzen Beach with pre­
sentation at 8:00 P.M.
"The Struggle Against Racist Violence", presented by Frontline news­
paper will feature keynot speaker Gerald Lenoir from the Bay area, who is
the co-chair of the Black Liberation Commission of Line of March. Local
panel includes Ben Priestly of the Black United Front, Chisao Hata of the
Japanese American Citizen's League and Mazen Malik of the General Union
of Palestinian Students. Sunday, June 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Bap­
tist Church, 116 N.E. Schuyler. $2-4 admission.

Jazz Festival Foundation
Initiates N ew Event
The Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz Foundation will sponsor the Mt. Hood
International Wine Experience on Friday, July 24. The event is a new addi­
tion to the events sponsored by the Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz.
The Wine Experience will feature French and Oregon wines in a dinner
and wine-tasting event to be held on the Mt. Hood Community College
campus here.
