Can You Be Too Emotional?

How many times has someone said to you. D on’t be so emotional 7
Plenty, III bet. usually when you were angry or upset
But did you know that anyone w ho has ever said this to you was also
being emotional'* W hile dictionaries define em otion as strong feeling, re
search has indicated that such moods as enthusiasm, cheerfulness mild
interest and conservatism are also emotions no matter how strongly or
weakly felt
One researcher points out, ‘ A fully reasonable human displays the emo
tion called for, rationally, by the circumstances w ith which he « , >r»fr >nted
