The years ahead are b rig h t for Blacks and o th e r m in o ritie s in the state o f
O regon The tin y nu m be r o f Blacks in O regon w ill once again have their
course ch a m p io n e d by those w h o care The e le ctio n o f G o ld sch m id t in to
o ffic e as the g o ve rn o r o f the state o f O regon and G ladys M cC o y as the
chair o f M u ltn o m a h C o u n ty C om m issioners w ill open another era fo r Blacks
and o th e r m in o ritie s, especially the poor
It is hig h tim e for B lacks in p o litics, business and o th e r sectors to be gin a
pro gra m for s ta te w id e solida rity to determ ine their o w n course By being
s tro n g ly un ite d the y w o u ld be m ore p ro d u c tiv e and e ffe c tiv e There is m u ch
to be lost w h en use ful energies are spent in d e s tru c tiv e criticism s If Blacks
and oth er m in o ritie s w o u ld de vote m ore tim e in liftin g them selves and
w o rk in g on their pro blem s, there w o u ld be tre m e n d o u s o p p o rtu n itie s lo r
every one

th e c o m m u n ity for c o n s tru c tiv e sta te w id e so lid a rity U n ite d w e stand, b u t
divide d w e m ust surely fall

tim e for u n im p o rta n t or in sig n ifica n t issues W e m u st be ready to be part o f
th e "O re g o n c o m e b a c k " in ord er to build a stro n g state w h ere Blacks.
