A s I stroll th ro u g h the Lloyd Center, I no tice
the teenagers, to m o rro w s ad ults, o u t sh o pp ing or co n g re g a tin g , ju st as
you and I used to in days gone by. Q uite a fe w o f th e m are w e arin g pink,
blue and red hair in ,he w ild e st styles im aginable I’m also having tro u b le
d istin g u ish in g the males fro m th e fem ales. It's q u ite a bazaar scene There
is a bench fu ll o f senior citizens shaking their heads in disbe lie f as the you n
ger set parades by them in full regalia I overhear one o f th e m ask, W here
do they get th is fro m They look like space cre a tu re s’ "
I'm a, a local teenage disco w here to n ig h t they are fe a tu rin g a popular
reco rdin g artist Every tim e th e DJ m e n tio n s his nam e, th e kids g o in to a
frenzy W h e n s h o w tim e rolls around, the clu b o w ne r and I are flabber
gasted The lynca are o u tra g e o u s, and the kids are sin gin g along w o rd for
w o rd

I t ’s tru ly am azing h o w th in g s com e fu ll circle I have tro u b le a d m ittin g it,
b u t I m ust be g e ttin g old, because no w the shoe is on the o th e r to o t. I can
recall the tro u b le I had w ith m y parents w h en I w a n te d to wear braids in
p u blic, b u t. at least, they did pro te st and let m e kn o w it w a s n ’t rig h t They
also used to visit m y ro o m on ce and som etim es tw ic e a w eek to listen to
