Highland Community Services has scheduled an Awards Ceremony and
Reception to honor the children who participated in Highland s Cultural
Enrichment Program this summer The Awards Ceremony will be held at
Highland United Church of Christ, 4625 N.E 9th Street, on October 1, 1986
at 7:00 p m.
Ruby Reuben and Nyewusi Askari have planned a one and one-half hour
program that will include certificate and award presentations to the children
who completed this year's program that included educational, cultural, and
self awareness activities

The Bethel African Methodist
Episcopal Church has scheduled a
Homecoming Celebration Sunday,
September 28, 1986
The Church was first organized in
1889 in the home of one of its
twenty members Worship services
were held in several sites through
out the City before a permanent loc
ation at
North
Larabee and
McMillian was obtained
Worship
services were held at the Larabee
site for forty five years at which
time it was purchased by the City to
build the present day Memorial
Coliseum
The present edifice is now located
at N.E. 8th and Jarrett
It is the
second oldest Black Methodist
Church in the city of Portland with
a membership of nearly 700
The Homecoming festivities will
be an opportunity to commerate the
church's 97 years of Christian ser
vice in the city of Portland
The Reverend A. Lee Henderson,
one of the former Pastors, who now
serves as Secretary Treasurer of the
Sunday School Union of the African

Enterostomal therapy services are
now being offered to outpatients as
well as inpatients by Meridian Park
Hospital's Enterostomal Therapy
Department.
The department is
open Tuesday through Friday from
7:30 a m. until 4 00 p.m and sche
duling is by appointmen’ Only.
Department services are coordi
nated by Pat Robbins. R N , Enter
ostomal Therapist.
"Patients re
quire a physician's order to access
these services." said Robbins Ser
vices are for people with ostomies
or incontinence problems including
teaching and evaluations.
Many
of the services provided by the
department are covered by insu
rance providers, she added, and in
many cases 80 100% of the ordinary
fees are covered."
