W hile preparing fo r w o rk Friday o f last week I listened to the "T o d ay ,”
news program which was tuned in on my television set with host Bryant
Gumbel and Jane Pauley o f NBC. Between hunting o f one shoe and plugging
in the curling iron, I heard the voice o f Jane Pauky addressing one of four
women who were the wives o f four hostages held in Beirut by the hijackers of
the T W O aircraft on Friday, June
say, “ Tell our audience what happened
to you this past Sunday." The woman (whose name I was never quite able to
understand, spoke clearly and boldly, saying, " I was not taking this whole
situation very well at all. I turned to tranquilizers for sleep; I could not under
stand how God could allow (his to happen. I blamed him. After realizing the
truth — it was not God but the devil,” she said. " I accepted Christ as my per
sonnel Savior and now am a born-again Christian."
What a testimony to be aired on nation wide television! By this time I was
standing directly in front of the television praising God for another life pre
paring for His Kingdom!
Yes, (he end might be sooner than we think, but one thing is for sure: God is
still drawing people by His Spirit and often out of pain comes joy.

and everything seem to be in an uproar these days. Children
against iheir parents, brother against brother. sister against sister and mar
nages o f longevity ending in divorce. There are marches, rallies, plane hijack
ings. violoence and so-called peace demonstrations. Does this all mean that
the end is near, the millennium 7 Christ's return f o r His people is a t hand.
