The Firehouse Theater is n ow accepting applications from prospec
tlve directors for its 1986 August production. Applicants must submit a
currant resume and a proposal of a play to ba produced.
This proposal should include a contemporary comedy w ith a synop
sis of the director's approach. The director chosen will be responsible
for locating the costum e designer, set designer, lighting designer as
s the light and sound technician. Final decisions for all technical
personnel w ill be Jointly m ade between the director and the Rrehouse
Theater.
Production dates are Thursday. Friday and Saturday. August 8 - 31 at
8:00 p.m . w ith an Actor's Benefit Sunday. August 18 at 7:00 p.m A ppli
cations must be received by the Rrehouse Theater no later than 6:00
p.m . M onday. April 29. 1986.

Actress/singer M elba M oore was feted by her T V /film manager
Gerald Silverhardt at the host new 386 North Club In Los Angeles, to
celebrate the release of M e lb a ’s new LP "Read M y Lips" and her C B S/
Columbia Pictures Television pilot "M elba." filming in N ew York this
month.

presents an exciting experiment in live
radio called Radio Soap Box the week
o f A p ril 8 to A p ril 12 between 10 and
10:30 a.m. A ll radio stations are li
censed to operate in the public inter
est. KBOO Community radio takes
this to its logical conclusion by pro
viding a forum for people in the Port
land Community to share their music
and inform ation with the listeners.
To dramatize this commitment to
access to the airwaves, KBOO will
place a microphone outside its studios
under a colorful Thai umbrealla for a
half hour each day, Monday through
Friday, A p ril 8 to 12 from 10 to 10:30
a m. Portlanders are encouraged to
exercise their First Amendment rights
o f free speech, sing, play music, and
communicate inform ation to the
