Bethesda teen selected as
Oregon pageant finalist

finalist to compete in the 1985 Miss
Oregon National Teen-Ager Pageant
at the Marion Executive Inn in Salem
on April 27.
Contestants from all over the state
will compete for over $47,000 in schol
arships, a week's vacation in Hawaii
and the right to represent their state
at the national pageant in August.
Celebrating its 14th year, this year
the Miss National Teen-Ager program
will award over $3 million in cash and
tu itio n scholarships to teenagers in
all 50 states, the District o f Columbia,
Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Contestants at the Miss O regon
National Teen-Ager Pageant will be
judged on scholastic achievem ent,
leadership, poise/pcrsonality and ap
pearance. They w ill also p erfo rm
their choice o f an essay on " W h a t’s
Right A b o u t A m e ric a " or a tw o-
minute talent presentation.

The First Annual Auction o f Trea
sures conducted by The G ro tto , The
National Sanctuary of O ur Sorrowful
Mother, will be held March 9, 7 p.m.
to 11 p .m ., at the University o f Port
land’s Mago Hunt Center.
The auction w ill feature sales o f
personal treasures, memorabilia, col
lectibles and antiques. Included will
be items from the Monastery at The
Grotto.
The recently started renovation
project calls for some new furnishings
in the Monastery and there are items
that have been donated by the friars
to the auction. Some o f these items
are pews from the chapel, oak tables
and chairs, watches, cam eras, old
trunks and many things collected over
the past 60 years.
