A benefit performance by some of
ihe greatest local talents in the Port­
land area will be held Sunday. Janu­
ary 27, 1985, 3:30 p.m . at Maranaiha
Church on behalf o f " G iv e Us This
D a y."
"G ive Us This D ay” was siarted by
Joshua and Virginia Phillips in 1979
to assist in maintaining and reestab­
lishing solid fa m ily relationships,
particularly the Black family. In addi­
tion to providing diversified coun­
seling lo individuals, families, churches,
agencies and service-based groups, it
also provides em ergency fo o d ,

clothing, shelter and homes for d e­
linquent teens as w ell as ad o p tio n
services. Ils philosophy is, i f fa m ­
ilies arc whole, then the communities
are healthier and the quality o f life is
heller.
Joshua and Virginia were selecied
and honored by K O IN -T V as Heros
in 1984, and ihe H o n o r is well d e­
served. they’ ve helped a lot o f fa m ­
ilies in distress. M aranaiha Church is
located at 4222 N E 12th. Admission is
free. H o w e v e r, d on atio ns w ill he
accepted in an effort lo raise $30,000.

Jesus On the Line."
Also appearing on the program will be Felix Justice.
Justice has w on critical acclaim for his theatrical work; most notably
for his portrayal of the late Dr. M artin Luther King. Jr.
