held in Peninsula Park and will feature live music by the Plus Tax Band, the
3-D Band and Street Music, along with Disco by the Chaz, Rapping. Break
dancing and more. There will be games and races for the kids and a whole
lot of fu n . W e encourage the community to come out and unite together for
the affair. Comm unity Unity Day is sponsored by the Black United Front.

The 19th annual Miss Tan Scholarship Pageant with Gene Diamond, Cora
Smith and Anise Hall, will be presented at 3:00 p.m ., Sunday. September 2nd,
at the Portland Art Museum Also on the program will be a gospel musical
w ith the Portlandaires and more; plus special guest Henry Cham bey. $5
donation, tickets available at House of Sound Records.
Gala grand opening slated
T he G ingerbread B ookhouso, the Po rtlan d m etro area's first m u lti
cultural children's bookstore an d professional art gallery, opens it's doors in
a gala grand opening Friday, August 24 th , at 6 p .m ., 3117 N .E. Union
across from Union Square.
The fabulous "S tre e t Corner Singers", the N orthw est's most ac co m
plished acappela group, and Ralph Black, undoubtably Portland's top male
vocalist, will perform an array of children songs and ballads
