J o n a th a n K o z o l's latest b o o k is
" P ris o n e rs o f S ile n c e " , w hich e x a ­
mines the p lig h t o f U .S . adults w ho
are illite r a te and presents a specific
plan to fight illiteracy. In add itio n to
his personal experiences in the Boston
p ub lic school system, K o zo l has re­
searched the successful literacy c a m ­
paigns in Cuba and Nicaragua. Kozol
