Issues o f Black Youth, will be
shown on Rogers Cablesystems of
Portland's Channel 23, (Black
Com m unity Television), on Satur­
day, November 5, from 11 a m. to 3
p.m. This series will highlight pro­
grams produced earlier this year,
which look at a variety o f concerns
affecting Black youth today.
The
presentation
includes:
Moving Together ( I I a m .)— cur­
rent problems of youth are dis­
cussed by adults working in youth-
oriented programs; N .E . Spectrum
(12 noon and I p .m .)— young peo­
ple comment on their concerns
ranging from school to teenage
pregnancy; D rum Voices (2 p .m .)—

The programs, which will be aired
nationwide,
were produced
by
W Q E D -T V /P itts b u rg h with fund­
ing from the Richard King Mellon
Foundation and ihe M etropolitan
Life Foundations.
Com m unity meetings will be held
on November 2nd and 9th, at Cleve­
land. Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln,
Madision,
M arshall,
Roosevelt,
Lincoln, and on Nov. 2nd and 10th
at Grant. Benson parents are inviled
to atiend Cleveland's town meeting
or the one that is closest and most
convenient.
One o f the most important out­
reach efforts in the history of public
television will soon take place. In
communities throughout Oregon
and across the nation, citizens will
join together to view The Chemical
People, a two-part special designed
to help combat school-age drug and
alcohol abuse.
Scheduled for broadcast Nosem
ber 2 and 9 at 8:00 p.m on Oregon
Public Broadcasting stations. The
Chemical People is designed to spur
communities to establish permaneni
task forces to attack substance
abuse in their area.
