F o rm the crow n by lin k in g the
frankfurters with heavy-duty thread
one inch from the bottom and one
inch fro m the to p . A llo w enough
thread at the ends for tying. Arrange
frankfurters in a circle and tie ends
o f thread together. Stand the crown
in a shallow pan and f ill w ith the
kraut stuffing. Enjoy!

heavy 10- to 12-inch skillet. Combine
potatoes, onion and pepper; add to
skillet. Press potato m ixture firm ly
and evenly over b otto m o f skillet.
Cook over medium-high heal, w ith
out stirring, until a brown crust forms
on the b o tto m , ab o ut 10 m inutes.
Mix together kraut, frankfurters and
sugar; spread evenly over potatoes in
the skillet. Reduce heat; cover and
cook 10 to IS minutes, or until kraut
is heated through. Run spatula round
edge o f skillet. T urn out onto large
plate or serve from skillet. M akes 4

I can (6 ounces) tomato paste
V» cup firmly-packed light brown
sugar
I tablespoon prepared mustard
I teaspoon onion powder
!4 teaspoon each: pepper and cumin
16 frankfurters
'A cup grated Cheddar cheese

In a medium saucepan, heat kraut,
pork and beans, tomato paste, sugar
and seasonings. M ea n w h ile, using
needle and heavy-duty white thread
(d o u b le d ),

furters together I-inch from bottom
and I-inch from top, allowing extra
thread for tying. A rran g e in circle
and tie ends together. Cut o ff excess
thread. Stand fra n k fu rte r crown in
shallow pan. fill with kraut stuffing.
Bake in 35O °F. oven 20 m in utes.
Sprinkle cheese on top; bake 15 to 20
minutes longer. Makes 8 servings.
