Stir fry dinners the easy way
S tir-fry m ay be a re la tiv e ly new
cooking term, but clever cook* have
done it from the dawn o f tkiUet*.
It doesn't even have to involve a
w ok or O rie n ta l seasonings. S tir-
fry in g transcends n a tio n a lity be­
cause it re a lly tra n s la te * in to one
sm art m ethod o f g ettin g a m ain
course together in minim um time.
H ere are tw o speedy and q uite
different stir-fries that use no-waste
ro u nd steak. Because the beef
should be thin-sliced to stir-fry, this
more expensive cut o f meat can be
stretched into an a ffo rd a b le — and
impressive— meal. T o have a firm
texture fo r easier th in slicing, the
meat should be frozen for at least an
hour.
As you plan ahead, these two sug­
gestions might w ork out fo r a lte r­
nate days some busy u pcom ing
week.
The S tir-F rie d C a ra w a y Beef is

Treatm ent Center at N .E . 16th and
Alberta, is the recipient o f a $10,000
grant from the J.E . Edwards Fund
th ro u g h the O reg o n C o m m u n ity
Foundation.
The check was presented to Mrs.
Boothe by M r. Ned LoOk, Director
o f the Oregon Com m unity Founda­
tion. M r. look was accompanied by
D r. W a lte r C . Reynolds and M r .
Brian G . B o o th, at the tim e o f the
presentation. The grant w ill be used
to finance a 10-week e d u c a tio n a l/
w ork experience for teenage youth
in the N /N .E . area o f Portland.
The youth attend two hours o f in­
struction each m orning followed by
three hours o f work in the comm u­
n ity re p a irin g , p a in tin g , assisting
senior citizens w ith m in or repairs.
Contracts with area businessmen for
c le a n u p /w o rk experience are also
being obtained at the present time.
