The choreography of Pilobous was demanding in control o f body and tim ing for the three men and three women who surely had to breathe in and breathe out in unison to accomplish the one-ness of their art. T hat the dancers were well re hearsed was evident. Joan W ood bury confirmed that daily rehearsals lasting six or seven hours are re quired to keep the company’s rhy thm in fine tune. Woodbury told us that all the performers are not ballet dancers— some joined the troupe who had been tap dancers or even folk dancers. Their ages range from 23 to 33. They tend to stay in the company longer than is usual, shar ing common aesthetic values as they do, Woodbury said. One individual has been involved with the troupe 10 years, and all o f them started as University of Utah student dancers.
